At the Zoo

Today we went to The National Zoo in D.C. It was just Tory, Tyler, and myself. Almost literally! There weren't many people visiting the zoo at all! It was incredible to walk through the bird house, small mammal house, reptile house, etc and not have to weave through hundreds of people. Actually, there was nobody in the bird house when we were there! We also couldn't have asked for better weather. It was mid 50s and sunny. I really can't put into words what a good day we had... so here are some (ok, a lot of) pictures to show it:

Checking out the panda with Daddy

Tyler really preferred the statues to the real animals. He was a fan of climbing all over them! lol

He thought the toucan in the bird house was pretty awesome, and when the bird flew out of sight, Tyler asked where it went. So cute!

He decided to take a little break in the invertebrate house.

Here he's laughing at, waving at, and saying hi to the snake all at once.
-See what I mean? On a normal day there's no way Tyler could have gotten a chance to watch the animals in the reptile house like this. But today, he sat on the ledges and watched any animal he wanted for as long as he wanted!

Waving hi to the turtles.

He kept saying "aaahhh" to this turtle and trying to stick his hand in it's wide open mouth. :)

The lions and tigers were both very vocal and active today. He thought it was pretty neat when the tiger stopped to take a drink...

...and I think the highlight of Tyler's life was when the tiger growled at us!
He got to "ROAR" at a real lion, which was the whole point of our trip today. He roars at just about everything these days, so we thought it'd be fun for him to see a lion for real. :)

Today was the most fun I've had in a long time! I doubt we'll ever experience the zoo again like we did today.
