Nick

My baby brother is all grown up! Nick joined the Coast Guard last week. It's hard for me to believe he's old enough to do such a thing. He'll be leaving for boot camp sometime in September, and then of course he'll be stationed just about anywhere on earth! It's really strange knowing that Nick won't always be here. I know he's doing what he wants to do, and he'll be great at whatever he puts his mind to, but it's still sad and I will miss that kid more than I think he knows.
In addition to missing him, I'll be mourning his hair! I think that might be the only reason I wish he hadn't joined! It will truly be a loss. ;)

The Five Siblings Together Again!

Zach came home for a few days this week, and all 4 of them (along with Kels' boyfriend, Mike) stopped by our house yesterday! We, of course, took the opportunity to get some pictures of all of us (and the nephew/son). Nick decided that he had to show Tyler where to look...

Bubble Bath!!

The kiddo had his first bubble bath yesterday. He didn't quite know what to do with all the bubbles though. First he tried picking them up, which only frustrated him. Then he got some on his hand and tasted them, but they didn't taste very good. Finally he chose to ignore them and go on with his bath. lol Bath time is so much fun for him now that he crawls around in the water and plays with his toys. He loves to fill his cup up with water and drink it like a big boy. His favorite part though is staring at the water coming out. He looks for a while and then sticks his hand in the flow and laughs. What a cutie! ♥

A new bed for The Oaf

We finally got a bed for the extra bedroom. I say that we got it for guests, but really it's for the dog. He doesn't miss his old dog bed one bit! Tyler enjoys having something else to pull up on and "walk" around.

My only problem with it is that I can't put a nice blanket on it since Dex will just tear it up. Oh well, now he has a place to sleep instead of on top of me!

YAY for naps!!

That's how I feel today. After 5 (count them, FIVE) days of 2 30-45minute naps each day, I finally got a 3 hour nap out of the kiddo today! Woohooo!! I was beginning to think he'd forgotten how to sleep during the day, and also forgotten how much Mommy needs those few hours to rest or just do things around the house. I feel rejuvinated. :)

In other news...

I was right, 2 teeth every time. We're now seeing 8 teeth in Tyler's little mouth. Ok, so only the very teeny tiny tippy part of #8, but it's there! And he's letting me know it! We went to Target tonight, and silly me, I didn't have any toys for him to chew on, so I got the MagLite (heavy duty but small flashlight) out of my glove box and he went to town on it. I think I was getting some evil stares from some more experienced (and therefore better- insert eye roll here-) moms when they saw. I just laughed. My baby was happy. lol

Speaking of Target, for all you other moms of little ones out there, go to the Dollar Spot! Or See Spot Save! Or whatever the hell they call it now. I got a bunch of Sesame Street board books for a buck each. You know the kind- ABCs, numbers, colors, animals, etc... If your kid likes to eat books as much as read them, the One Spot is your friend! I also got a Curious George dry erase board for my fridge- because I'm a kid too. And a small book called A Taste of Chicken Soup for the Mother's Soul- because in addition to being a kid, I am a Mom too. :) And bunny ears for Tyler's first Easter! lol I can't wait for that picture! Oh, and a squeaky ball for the Oaf. All for just $1.00 each.
I love cheap entertainment!

My Project- Finished March 1st, 2009

I'm rarely actually proud of myself, but this is an exception. ;) I've been making baby quilts for a couple months now, and recently decided to attempt a much larger project- A queen size quilt for my bed! Voila! I finished it 2 days ago, and am pretty darn pleased with it. I'm going to make some pillow shams to match it so the blanket won't be up over what are currently ugly pillows. I have a real live bed now! *sigh*
Now to keep the Great Dane off of it...

I want a Boxer

That's all.

I've been perusing the "show-offs" section of the Boxer forum I'm on, and I now need one. Puppy or geezer, I really don't care.
I'm tempted to ask our landlord if we can bring another dog home, but somehow I think he'll say no. When we first found this place, the listing said NO dogs. We asked if he would make an exception for Dexter and he did. A Great Dane is a BIG exception! haha I'm thinking 2 dogs won't be happening here. So now I'm seriously looking for other places that will allow them. Is it weird that I'm willing to move in order to have another canine companion?? I think yes. Maybe I should just ask the landlord, the worst he can say is no! Or maybe I should just stop looking at all the gorgeous pictures of Boxers... Nah! I'll ask the landlord... ;)
